We combine New Mexico and Arbol chiles for this one so you’ve got a bit of heat (add some habanero powder if you’re feeling crazy) with a good depth of flavour. It’s our choice for making a traditional chuckwagon chile – just add Santa Fe Chile Seasoning to cubed or ground beef. Kidney beans, grated cheese, sour cream and tomatoes all optional extras.

Chuckwagon Chile

Ingredients
  

  • 4-1/2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1-1/2 lbs beef or turkey cubed or ground
  • 1 4.5 oz package Los Chileros Santa Fe Chile Seasoning

Instructions
 

  • On the stove, heat the oil in a large pan. When hot, add the meat, and as the meat begins to brown, add the package contents (4.5 oz) and thoroughly combine.
  • Add 4 1/2 cups of water. Stir to combine, and simmer for 40 minutes.
  • This makes a good, spicy dish with its combination of New Mexico and arbol chiles. If you want more heat, add a tablespoon of our habanero powder to set things on fire! For less heat, add a can of stewed tomatoes or kidney beans. And add cheese and a dollop of sour cream if you really want to customize it. Any way you serve it, it’s a great meal.
